Category Archives: Power Pivot

Power Pivot is a business intelligence tool that can be used in Excel. It allows you to create tables and then connect these tables to a data model. It is an alternative to a classic database. There are tables on the individual sheets in Excel, which you connect via foreign keys and thereby create a data model. Using Power Pivot makes sense in certain cases when you don’t work with tables of large size and complexity and you don’t own any other tool at the same time.

💡 Note: Power Pivot used to be a separate add-in that had to be installed manually in Excel. Today, however, it’s fully integrated directly into Excel (starting with version 2016 and later, or in Microsoft 365) as part of the Data Model feature.

Some articles or functions described in this category may therefore refer to older versions of Excel and may behave differently or appear under different names in newer versions.
